Workout Chat for ChatGPT
Log your workouts from ChatGPT.
Add Workout Chat as a connector and the ChatGPT window you already have open becomes your training log. Say what you lifted; it gets recorded, structured, and tracked.

The problem it solves
One fewer app to open
Most workout logging dies from friction. You finish a set, you're breathing hard, and logging it means finding the app, finding the routine, finding the exercise, and tapping a number into three fields. Enough sessions like that and you stop bothering.
If you're already in ChatGPT most of the day, the cheapest possible place to log a workout is the conversation that's already open. No launch, no navigation — you type the same sentence you'd say to a training partner and it lands in a structured log.
Setup
Two fields and an OAuth prompt
Workout Chat is a workout logger with its own chat, and it also runs a remote MCP server — which means there's nothing to install and nothing running on your machine. In ChatGPT's Settings → Connectors, add an MCP server with this URL:
- Add the connector Paste the server URL into ChatGPT's connector settings. https://workout.chat/mcp
- Approve access The first message that touches Workout Chat opens a browser tab. Log in, approve, and you're connected — there's no API key to copy.
- Start logging Tell ChatGPT what you did. It calls the right tool and reports back what it recorded. Log bench 3x8 at 185 and OHP 3x10 at 95 to my workout chat
Beyond logging
It can read the log, not just write to it
The connector exposes the same tools the in-app assistant uses, so ChatGPT can pull your actual history rather than reasoning about a training plan in the abstract. That's the difference between generic advice and advice about your squat.
- Log a full session, a single correction, or a weigh-in
- Look up a movement's progression and personal record
- Record an injury and check in on it as it recovers
- Set a goal and see how close you are
- Pull recent sessions to plan the next one
What it looks like
- "Log today: squat 5x5 at 245, RDL 3x8 at 185, leg press 3x12 at 360"
- One workout, three exercises, every set parsed. ChatGPT confirms what it wrote, including that the squat is 10 lbs above your last session.
- "Actually the RDL was 195"
- Corrects the existing entry rather than adding a second one.
- "How's my squat trending over the last two months?"
- Reads the real progression — session dates, top sets, estimated max — and answers from it.
- "My lower back was tight after the RDLs"
- Logs the injury against today's session and flags the movements worth easing off next time.
Questions
Do I need a Workout Chat account as well as ChatGPT?
Yes. ChatGPT is the interface; Workout Chat is where the training data lives. The connector links the two with OAuth, so you log in once and ChatGPT never sees your password.
Which ChatGPT plans support MCP connectors?
Connector support depends on your ChatGPT plan and whether MCP connectors are enabled for your account — check the Connectors section in ChatGPT's settings. If you don't see it, the web app and the REST API work the same way in the meantime.
Does logging from ChatGPT put the workout somewhere different?
No. There is one log. A session logged from ChatGPT shows up in the Workout Chat web app immediately, and vice versa — same workouts, same PRs, same charts.
Can ChatGPT read my training history, or only write to it?
Both. It can list recent sessions, look up an exercise's progression, check on an injury, and pull your goals — so it can answer "what did I squat last week" from real data instead of guessing.
Is there an API key to manage?
No. It's OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, so there's no key to paste, store, or rotate. You can revoke access from your profile at any time.
Connect it once, log from anywhere.
The web app, ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor all write to the same log.
